IVANPAH Dry Lake

Ivanpah is a dry Lakebed and one of the best lands sailing locations in the world. It has been set aside exclusively for the use of non motorized vehicles, except for entry and exiting. The United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages the site.

To get out to the dry lakebed, drive along the road behind the Primm Valley Resort and the Outlet shopping mall. As you wrap around the shopping mall to the Southwest, you will see a sign posted gate. Drive through the gate and out onto the Eastern dry lake edge. Follow the lake edge road (marked with 3 foot high brown posts either side of the road every 300 feet) until you get to the camp site. Please observe the 30mph speed limit and stick to the road. If there are any wet spots in the roadway go around them.

DO NOT DRIVE ON THE LAKE BED OUT SIDE OF THE MARKED ROAD.

Use of IVANPAH Prior To The Event

We recommend if you arrive earlier than March 29 the West side of IVANPAH will be available to use for sailing. There is another event that has a permit to use the East side of IVANPAH the week before the NABSA event. To enter the West side go behind Whiskey Pete’s parking garage and you will see a gated open entrance to the BLM land. Follow the road bearing left to the lake bed parking and set up areas. The use of Ivanpah is permitted by individuals for non organized land sailing anytime. If you arrive early and want to use the Playa, please be aware of all the USBLM rules posted at the marquee at the Playa entrance. If the gate is locked do not enter.

Primm Valley Resorts

The NABSA event organizers will arrange a group rate for lodging at Buffalo Bill’s for the event. Buffalo Bill’s contains a hotel, Casino and restaurants. A room code with booking information will be posted on the website.
